Thanks for dropping by
Captain's log... no wait that's the wrong intro; or is it? You see SEcond Life is very much like Star Trek, it will probably take 5 years to explore this strange new world to boldly go and all that gunk. But ine thing is for sure that you'll never experience another world quite like it.
What we hope to achieve here is a kinda diary type thing where we will note up some of the cool features of Second Life, some funny and trivial moments. We'll even show you a few tricks with the builds and interface as we learned them. So Just stick with us and even tag along and we explore Second life.
| Day one |
This is a real peculiar affair. I've been playing video games for nearly 30 years (still rubbish at them) tried so many training levels it's untrue. This one I hated. I'd been fighting my way through World of Warcraft for 2 years and was really used to the way I could steer my characters. I knew what all the keys did and when to use them. I'm also a huge fan of the Xbox 360 so this was huge challenge. I had just one gut reaction AAAAArrrrrrrgggggh!!!

| Day two |
I know that I will get to grips with these controls and being able to fly wherever I want to, it's just such a pain getting used to it all. Now they want me to learn the the menu wheel and all of its sub options. Are they serious!? Here we go, now it's building tutorial.
My head hurts. I need to lie down, think I'll rez a nice cozy chair. Now... where did all that free inventory go...

| Day three |
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + D. Wow I've not done finger gymnastics like that since the heady days of the Sinclair Spectrum. Now at lI can access all of those juicy controls and function under the hood of this beastie. Let me see..
Unlock camera constraints, show beacons, user interface, test slurl; things are certainly looking up. |
| Day four |
So I decide to build something, the world is my oyster. I know, furniture, a nice set of office furniture but not the normal kind something a bit more stylish.
Took a bit longer than I imagined to do, quite fidly getting the pieces to line up just so... Still, in the end it all all worked just got to remember to name the last item in the group and to set the permissions correctly for the next owner... |
